Customers will receive greatly improved new version of Visa Greencard
’s-Hertogenbosch, 5 October 2009 – RePay International, the company responsible for the Visa Greencard and the ClimaCount compensation program, has entered into a partnership agreement for the Dutch market with credit card issuer PaySquare. The latter takes over from Laser Cards, which had earlier indicated that it would not continue its support for the sustainable credit card program. The Visa Greencard is the only credit card that makes all credit card payments CO2 neutral by automatically compensating for the CO2 emission associated with the purchase in question.
Current cardholders can continue using their Visa Greencard until 12 November 2009, and will receive their new Visa Greencard before that date. RePay International has notified its customers accordingly via email. During the coming week, they will receive an email requesting them to apply for the new, sustainable credit card.
Improved version
The follow-up card that RePay International is introducing in collaboration with PaySquare
and Visa is a greatly improved version of the current Visa Greencard. Among other things,
cardholders will be provided with direct insight into the CO2 emission for all major product
categories. In this way, customers can compare their CO2 footprint with that of other Visa
Greencard holders. The improved program will also offer customers the possibility to select a
compensation method via the web. Cardholders can choose between forestry, sustainable
energy, energy savings or the capture of greenhouse gases. Customers will also benefit from
a free 180-day credit card purchase insurance, and are permanently ensured of secure
online payments through the ‘Verified by Visa Internet Security’ system.
Costs
An annual fee of 15 Euros ranks the new Visa Greencard among the most cost-efficient
credit cards available on the Dutch market. The costs related to withdrawing money, foreign
currencies, interest and insurances have all been reduced in comparison to the former
Greencard. Customers who paid Laser Cards a one-off entry fee can expect a fair and
flexible arrangement.
Partnership with PaySquare
In May 2009, RePay International already signed an agreement with PaySquare for the
issuing of the Visa Greencard Corporate card. This payment card allows companies and
government organizations to make their operations sustainable in an easy and cost-efficient
way by compensating for the CO2 emission associated with all their credit card payments.
RePay International has entered into an international partnership agreement with Visa
Europe for the provision of the Visa Greencard Corporate. PaySquare was the first credit
card issuer to include this corporate program for sustainable credit card payments in its
portfolio.
“We are highly pleased with our partnership agreement with credit card issuer PaySquare. The company is a true specialist and receives high customer satisfaction rankings. This partnership agreement enables us to safeguard the continuity of the Visa Greencard for the consumer market”, comments Patrick Bunnik, the CEO of RePay International. “After the termination of the partnership agreement with our current issuer, we started looking for a partner that was best able to add to our new features. We have found this partner in PaySquare. This means Visa Greencard holders can continue compensating for the CO2 emission associated with the products and services they purchase. This is a win/win situation for both customers and the environment.”
Marc Klijn, Issuing Manager at PaySquare, is also extremely pleased with the expansion of the partnership between the two companies. “The ability to offer a consumer version of the Visa Greencard along with a business version makes our portfolio even more complete. This allows PaySquare to service its customers in an environmentally-friendly way by helping to raise their awareness of their CO2 footprint.”
Michiel Wielhouwer, Country Manager for the Benelux region at Visa Europe: "We are very happy with the new features of the Visa Greencard and the continuity offered to card holders that have resulted from this new partnership agreement with PaySquare."
