Climate compensation is catching on, both for businesses and for an increasing number of consumers. However, people still have many questions about consuming CO2- neutral. For this reason RePay International has joined forces with five other climate compensation providers. Together we can provide consumers with the necessary information under the ‘association of climate compensation providers’ logo. In addition, we check on whether the climate compensation promised to consumers actually takes place.
By forming this association we are responding to substantial consumer demand for more insight into exactly what is spent by organizations providing climate compensation or CO2-neutral products. Transparency is therefore essential and we have laid down minimum requirements for the way in which compensation should take place. Partners not meeting these requirements can be excluded from the association. In this way we are able to guarantee to consumers that climate compensation that has been purchased actually contributes towards a reduction in the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
With the Visa GreenCard, RePay International is one of the six powerful partners forming the association and Essent, Greenchoice, KlimaatNeutraal Groep/GreenSeat, Rabobank and Trees for Travel have all joined the Visa GreenCard as members of the association.
The initiative for the formation of the association came from the information and publicity organization “Milieu Centraal”. On 2 July 2007 Environmental Minister Cramer gave the signal for the start of the joint cooperation by unveiling the 'association of climate compensation providers' logo. She also declared the website www.klimaatcompensatie.nl officially in use. On this website the six partners explain the nature of their products and the way in which they provide consumers with an insight into their operations.
