Den Bosch, 4 July 2007 - Shopping, filling up the car and flying - but at the same time free compensation of all CO2 emissions linked to these purchases or to the urge to travel? The Visa GreenCard offers this possibility, both free of charge and with the guarantee that climate compensation is carried out in the proper way. The only thing consumers have to do is to pay for their purchases with this credit card and then a calculation is made of the amount of CO2 emitted or to be emitted as a result of these purchases.
There is a once-only charge of 75 euros for the Visa GreenCard which is linked to a unique CO2 compensation programme. The CO2 emissions resulting from the production and use of any products and/or services purchased are offset against investment in tree planting and environmental projects. This climate compensation scheme was developed based on RIVM (Department of Health & the Environment) reports and under the supervision of TNO (Technical Research Organization). In order to monitor and support this scheme, the environmental organization ‘Milieu Centraal’ was behind the launch of a formation of associated partners, including Visa GreenCard, who have joined together to form ‘Klimaatcompensatie.nl’.
Visa GreenCard is also one of the partners of the ‘HIER’ (HERE) coalition. This coalition joins together environmental organizations, nature organizations, aid agencies and organizations active in developing countries and in social welfare which all send out the same message: we can and must stop climate change in order to safeguard the future, both HERE and there!

Visa GreenCard is a product of Repay International B.V., a company that focuses on the international roll-out of the ClimaCount credit card scheme for climate compensation. Through this global scheme, environmental pollution resulting from the purchase by card holders of commodities such as petrol, air tickets and other polluting products is fully compensated. Among other things ClimaCount does this by planting trees, by generating sustainable energy and by buying-up emission rights.
